The Chatham County School District announces changes.
Chatham County Schools has announced the makeup day for the missed student day on Thursday, January 22. Friday, March 13, will now be a student day. Students were out of school on Thursday, January 22, because of inclement weather. March 13 was originally to be a required teacher workday.
The Board decided to change the location of the next Board meeting from Pittsboro Elementary School to the central office. The meeting was originally scheduled for next Monday evening, February 9, but the Board voted to move it to Monday, February 23, in order to give staff additional time to work with budget-related issues that will be on the meeting agenda.
Beginning with the 2009-2010 school year, House Bill 150 requires that a child presented for enrollment to kindergarten must be five years old on or before August 31 of that school year. The cutoff date was previously October 16.
Chatham County Schools will conduct its annual kindergarten registration process at schools from April 27-May 1 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Families should contact the elementary school in their area for specific details. Information will also be available on the Chatham County Schools website at www.chatham.k12.nc.us.
