The Chatham County Habitat for Humanity is continuing its mission with the help of local churches.
"The "Apostle Build" program brings 12 churches together of various denominations. We join together and build the house. Each church puts in two days in nine months," Bett Essen with Habitat for Humanity explained.
Griselda Rivera, her husband and three daughters -- ages six, three and nine months - will soon have a brand new home thanks to the program as they prepare to leave their crowded apartment in Liberty.
Rivera and her family aren't just waiting to move into their new home, they also pitch in to help the congregations with construction.
"We're completing our sweat equity hours by helping construction crews," Rivera said.
And Rivera said their family will not only be more comfortable but they will also feel safer.
"It has a tremendous impact on these families. Every family has the right to live in a safe decent home," Essen said.
Overall, the Rivera said it's a dream come true.
"I'm very excited to get a new home it's going to help build a future of her three daughters," Rivera said.
The Riveras will be able to move into the home by the Spring.
Besides their time, each church also donates $2300.
Pastor Troy Lesher-Thomas of Pittsboro Presbyterian Church said it's worth every penny.
"It's good to know that some of their comfort comes because we had the courage to donate our gifts of time and money," Lesher-Thomas said.
Currently, they have seven churches involved but are looking for a total of 12. To find out more information about how you can help click here.
