The 25th year of Music for the Lunch Bunch begins June 17th and is back this year with eight scheduled performance dates with 14 different musicians. The Music for the Lunch Bunch is a series of summer concerts held every Wednesday, at 12:15 pm, featuring local artists performing a variety of music, with particular emphasis on classical music. The concert series is grassroots funded by the Johnston County Arts Council and the North Carolina Arts Council. There is no admission charge but donations are accepted.
For the first time in its history, the Music for the Lunch Bunch performances will have a new coordinator for the program. Mrs. Dorothy Onisko, who has coordinated the Music for the Lunch Bunch series since its beginning in 1985, has passed the torch to Mrs. Molly Olah. Olah had this to say concerning her new position:
As the new director for the Music for the Lunch Bunch, I am pleased to have the opportunity to showcase fine classical musicians from Johnston County in this, the 25th Anniversary season. In previous years I have assisted Mrs. Onisko and was also a performer, as were many of my students. I hope that the citizens of Johnston County will plan to join us this summer for free concerts on Wednesdays around the noon hour to enjoy the many talents our county has to offer.
All performances will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Smithfield, unless indicated below the performance date.
