Progress Energy is teaming up with the government to make it easier to own an electric car.
More than $2 billion in stimulus money will be used to develop the next generation of battery and electric vehicles.

President Barack Obama made the announcement for the grant money on Wednesday during a visit to an RV manufacturing company in Indiana.
Progress Energy's role will be to help make sure the infrastructure and electric grids are available.
