WAKE COUNTY, N.C.

August 7, 2009—Times are tough, and the number of needy families is growing. Many food banks are facing bare shelves. A non-profit, Grow And Share, is fighting hunger through gardening and community produce distribution. Now, to raise funds for their fight against hunger, Grow And Share is holding a music festival in Rolesville, NC. The day offers music, a variety of food, kids activities, farm education stations, and more.

"Because community is of such importance, we felt the best way to raise funds for our projects is to provide a day of community and sharing," said Kay Whatley, Creative Director at Grow And Share.

The Grow And Share Music Festival is scheduled for Sunday, September 6, 2009. Festivities kick off at 10am and run until 8pm that evening. Entry is free and parking is available all around the festival location, which is Main Street Park, Rolesville NC USA.

Bands and musicians have donated their time to the cause. Bands scheduled for the festival include: Jo Gore and the Alternative, Mister Felix, John Goose, Lucky Draw, Moonfisher, and Old Avenue. Each group generously agreed to play at the festival as their contribution to Grow And Share's fight against hunger.

About Grow And Share

Grow And Share is an organization fighting hunger at the local level by growing interest in gardening and local foods. Activities include plant giveaways, gardens promoting, and gathering food for local organizations to distribute free. Grow And Share provides plants and assistance to North Carolina residents willing to plant "Sharing Gardens(TM)" on their own land. These gardens allow each person to provide food for their family with some to share with their community. New and existing gardeners pick up free garden plants each April. By providing the plants at no charge, Grow And Share is ensuring even those who do not have the funds to spare can grow food.
