North Carolina Gov. Beverly Perdue is appealing to teachers and state employees in a video asking for their help in a recession that has led to layoffs from government payrolls.
A Perdue spokesman said Friday the governor thanks state employees and teachers for their work in tough times, and asks for their suggestions on where money can be saved.
The videos distributed Wednesday also allow Perdue to stress her position on the downsized state budget she signed into law two weeks ago. About 700 state workers are to be laid off and hundreds of teaching jobs are in question as local school boards cope with reduced state allocations.
Perdue says she offset more serious layoffs, in part by pushing for tax increases.

Well, lets see take the 25 million away from Bassnight and the Pier to no where and the aquarium that the economy won't support or needs and that would help some. I'd like to see "The Gov" do the right thing for once!!!
