The Chatham County schools' Transportation Director is expected to address bus route changes during today's Board of Education meeting.
School officials say budget cuts have prompted changes in the way school buses run in Chatham County.
The biggest change would be a common bus stop at the entrance of each neighborhood. The change would help save buses time of driving through street by street and will cut down on the number of buses used, thus saving $150,000.
"There may be some dangers with kids walking at a young age to the bus stops but I think the communities can help each other reach out," said transportation director, Joel Caviness. "We're hoping that consolidating the bus stops is going to cut down on time."
The Chatham County Board of Education will meet at 5:45 tonight.
