DURHAM COUNTY, N.C.
The GCF Nature Center, a free program of Goodwill Industries of Eastern North Carolina for adults with disabilities, has prepared herbs to help flavor the Thanksgiving dinners of recipients of food from the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.
The GCF Nature Center is a regular donor to the Food Bank, having contributed over 3,000 pounds of fresh produce so far in 2009. The Nature Center participants help plant, nurture and harvest all of the food grown at the center. Participants spend a portion of two days a week at the GCF Nature Center helping with the produce gardens as well as the ornamental plants in the Memorial Garden.
