UNDATED

From what not to do with an icy pole, to what happens when a bell rings, here are some things we've learned from watching those holiday classics all these years.

1. Never stick your tongue on a flagpole in freezing weather even if someone triple-dog dares you. - "A Christmas Story."
2. The ghost of Christmas past is sad. The ghost of Christmas future is scary. But the ghost of Christmas present is the coolest. - "A Christmas Carol."
3. No man who has friends is a failure. - "It's a Wonderful Life."
4. Maybe Christmas doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas ... perhaps ... means a little bit more! - "How The Grinch Stole Christmas."
5. A scrawny little real Christmas tree is better than one made of pink aluminum. It just needs a little love. - "A Charlie Brown Christmas"
6. Never leave a cooked turkey unattended with hungry dogs around or there will be no turkey! No turkey sandwiches! No turkey salad! No turkey gravy! Turkey Hash! Turkey A La King! Or gallons of turkey soup! - "A Christmas Story"
7. Every time a bell rings an angel gets its wings. - "It's a Wonderful Life"
8. Christmas isn't just a day, it's a frame of mind and faith is believing when common sense tells you not to. - "Miracle on 34th Street"
9. A toy is never truly happy until it is loved by a child and even a misfit with a big red nose can be a hero. - "Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer."
10. Never spend a Christmas bonus check until you have it in your hands and don't let the cat near the Christmas tree. - "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation."
